The best design decision you can make is often subtraction.

There's a reflex in creative work to keep adding — another section, another animation, another accent color. It feels like progress. It looks like effort. But more often than not, it's noise dressed up as craft.

Restraint is the hardest skill to develop.

It requires trusting that the work is strong enough without embellishment. That white space isn't emptiness — it's breathing room. That a single well-chosen typeface does more than four competing ones ever could. Restraint isn't laziness. It's confidence made visible.

The strongest interfaces are invisible.

Users don't notice them because they don't need to. The path is clear, the hierarchy is obvious, and the next action feels natural. When design calls attention to itself, it's usually because something isn't working. The decoration is covering a structural problem.

Remove one element from your next design before you ship it. Then remove another. Keep going until removing anything more would break the communication. What's left is the design.
